Flash Analysis: Cash Coordination in Ukraine
I understand from discussions with UN and INGO teams working on Ukraine that Multipurpose cash assistance(MPC) has been approved by the Ukraine Humanitarian Country Team, as a first line response and that a UN led flash appeal will likely be released soon. To enable the scale up and coordination of cash as a humanitarian response option UNOCHA have deployed a full time Senior (P5) person on cash coordination. The expert is a Nexus specialist and was drafted to deploy to Ukraine a couple of weeks back when the chat was still about prep and moving towards more MPC approaches to align with the Social Protection system. The hope is that the expert will be able to give the coordination top cover and seniority required to give the rest of the Cash Working group space to focus on the technical issues of scaling up the use of Cash as a humanitarian response option.
